The New Air-Intake boot showed up today! Now I just need an over 50 degree day so I can install it!
Emergency repairs are not intended to be permanent! I don't understand why the previous owner decided this was a long term fix. Regardless I'm sure I can replace it under ten dollars, and that's a small price to pay to prevent any further engine damage.
I put in an order for a new Air-Intake Boot. Maybe this is what was causing all the bucking!
It's 65 degrees today, and festival season right around the corner! It's time to find out why this Bus is bucking, chucking, and backfiring!
I'm feeling pretty good about how the heat exchangers are turning out.
This is also probably why it was so unbelievably loud!
I guess since I'll have the muffler off, I might as well go ahead and remove and clean up the heat exchangers.
Charged the battery, took a deep breath and turned the key, and........it started!!!! Woop Woop! I'm sure it didn't fix all the problems, but I can at least mark today down as a win!
Now to reinstall it, and hopefully this fixes the intermittent starting issues I'm having. Fingers Crossed!
So far it's going pretty well, I got the steering wheel off without braking anything!
Every driver of an Air Cooled VW should own this book! It can be a real life saver
